This last weekend our family traveled to Memphis, TN for our cousin's wedding. Heres how the weekend went.....
Friday morning around 8:30 a.m. we were on our way. About 30 min. outside of Texarcana we began to feel/hear something strange with the tire. We passed it off as the texture of the road. About 8 miles prior to Texarcana the car began shaking on the road. We pulled over on the side of the highway to see that the tire was smoking. Slowly we drove to the nearest exit. Thank God for watching over us, because when we jacked the car up the wheel wobbled almost completely off.
Here we are trying to figure out what was going on...
Meanwhile, Jake had a blast getting to stretch his legs and practice his driving skills. Uncle Carl taught him how to honk the horn.
We called in a tow and went to the nearest service station. Four hours later we were told that they didn't have the part and that we would have to come and get the car Monday. So, we got a rental car and were on our way again....
Meanwhile, Trey, Neely and Tony got off of work and were on their way to meet us. They stopped for gas just outside of Rockwall and when they turned the car back on they heard a loud pop. The battery exploded! Trey hitched a ride to go get a battery and the store was closed. They finally found a store that had one and were on their way too.
We arrived in Memphis at 8:15 p.m. (yes it took us 12 hours to get there)
The city was beautiful.
Our final destination was just outside of Memphis. We made it in by 8:30 p.m. Trey, Neely & Tony made it in by 2:00 a.m.
Saturday morning, Tony had a bite on his neck and everyone thought it was a brown recluse spider bite. So they took him in to an emergency care facility.
By noon, they were back and we were all ready to go to the wedding.
The church was amazing! It looked like a country club that you would see in a movie. It was so large that they had valet parking. The ceremony was beautiful and extremely heartfelt.
This is my cousin Justin and his new bride Kimberly.
Later that night we went down to Beale Street. We ate at BB Kings and listened to a live band. It was a blast. The food was amazing!
Here is Beale Street.
We then went to see the infamous Peabody Hotel. It was gorgeous! We saw where the ducks came into the lobby and go into the fountain.
This was the view from the top of the Peabody Hotel.
All in all with a few bumps in the road we had a great trip! The city was great. The wedding very special and we got to spend a lot of time with each other that we normally wouldn't.
